Not That Far From Bethlehem – My 25 Favorite Christmas Songs (Dec 20)

We’re not far from Christmas, quite literally now, since we’re five days out. And this song is a reminder, to me, to not get so caught up in the busy of last-minute gift-buying, and baking, and gift-wrapping, but to take a minute and remember why this season is so hopeful in the first place.

It’s one of the reasons I enjoy Advent so much – it’s the anticipation. We’ve been on a journey, and now we’re nearing the end. The culmination.

The fulfillment of our hope.

Now faith is assurance of things hoped for, proof of things not seen.

Hebrews 11:1 WEB

What are you hoping for this Christmas, whether it’s that certain gift, or something a little more?

Rebekah Loper writes character-driven epic fantasy featuring resilient women in trying and impossible circumstances who just want to save themselves but usually end up saving the world, often while falling in love.
She lives in Tulsa, OK with her husband, dog, two formerly feral cats, a small flock of feathered dragons (...chickens. They're chickens), and an extensive tea collection. When she's not writing, she battles the Oklahoma elements in an effort to create a productive, permaculture urban homestead.
