One King held the hope of the world.
That’s the most haunting line of this entire song, to me. We hear so much about the ‘three kings’ (or wise men, magi, etc – and in all actuality, there were probably more than three of them), and when they are talked about, it’s often easy to forget that they had come to see the King.
When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceedingly great joy. They came into the house and saw the young child with Mary, his mother, and they fell down and worshiped him. Opening their treasures, they offered to him gifts: gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
