March-ing On… #writemotivation

Well. February was a dismal failure. But February is over, and I’m going to move on to March!

I’m getting tired of life getting the best of me, and so March is going to be me attempting to get things done despite life, while still remember to take time for myself when necessary. It means I need to get much better about time management.

IE: I just need to plain old STOP wasting my time. Nothing is going to change unless I’m actively doing something about it.

And now, onto March #WriteMotivation! I really need to kick-butt this month since I accomplished very little in February.

So, goals:

  1. Finish Ferret A-Z posts.
Three of five still need to be written.
  2. Write all personal A-Z posts.
TWO DOWN (as of Sunday night when I’m scheduling this). Twenty-four more to go…
  3. Work on Catalyst revisions a minimum of 6 hours per week.
These hours are to be spread throughout the week, in the attempt to start forming a habit. More than six hours are allowed. This goal is not allowed to be marked off if six hours are completed in one day and then nothing else for the rest of the week.
  4. Work on turning in article for THE AWESOME OPPORTUNITY. If THE AWESOME OPPORTUNITY works out, write two more articles.
Hopefully, by the time this post goes live tomorrow, I will have emailed this.
  5. Filing cabinet. Seriously.
We’re in a stable relationship of “Rebekah pretends the filing cabinet does not exist. Neither does the box of papers waiting to go into it.”
  6. Read.
I’m so far behind on my Goodreads challenge it’s not even funny.

So, to everyone who had a crummy February besides me – LET’S DO MARCH AND DO IT LIKE CRAZY. Okay? (I really don’t even know what I was aiming for here, okay? It’s late. Cut me some slack.)

That it does. I think that’s one thing I forgot to account for at the beginning of February – it was literally a shorter month. Which threw me off when it got down to the last few days.

I’m in the opposite boat…February has been an absolutely crazy month for me productivity-wise (I transcribed a bunch of sermons for a book on communication our pastor wanted put together, have been leading a small group at our ladies’ Bible study, doing all the usual, plus another personal thing that’s cropped up). In March I am looking forward to some breathing space in my schedule and getting back to working on my fiction!

Hope everything goes well! Do you ever use a day planner or weekly schedule to help with time management? I know I accomplished WAY less before I established a weekly routine. Now I know what happens when, it helps me to keep on top of things! (Of course life just gets in the way sometimes and throws the routine for a loop–sounds like that’s what’s been going on with you!)

February wasn’t a failure for lack of trying, it’s that I would try to accomplish something and everything would literally fall apart around me. It was not fun. I pretty much sat down and cried a few times because I knew all I could do was try to fix things, not get anything NEW done. I think that was the most frustrating thing.

I’ve tried to use planners before, and I… forget they exist. The best I can do is a to-do list, and it usually works well for me. I’ve got a pretty good routine down for getting up and going for the day, and getting house things done (sans garden), it’s just I’m easily distracted when it comes to writing. Or people call. And I think I need to print off reminders for all my family members that “Rebekah needs to write. She doesn’t necessarily have a set writing schedule, so if you call and she doesn’t answer, leave a voicemail. If you don’t leave a voicemail, she will probably forget you called. If it’s an emergency, call twice.”

But I think getting them to cooperate with that might be wishful thinking.

Blech, oh believe me, I know what survival mode is like! I have a child who spent the first two months of her life nursing every. Single. Hour and a Half. Around the clock. NOTHING got done, no matter what I did. But it was a season, and like all seasons, it passed, despite how long it seemed in the moment. You’ll pull through!

Pretty much everyone I know is aware that if they try to call me and I don’t answer, they just have to try again later 😛 I mean, my voicemail message contains the phrase “Leave a message and I’ll never listen to it.” Sometimes it’s okay to be unreachable! I don’t think it’s actually natural for us to be in constant and instantaneous contact.

You are always crazy with your goals, but I know you can handle them if you put your mind to them too. Because you, like your goals, are also cray-cray. (Just go with it….) =)

We all have months like that, so don’t worry! But I’m sure March will be great! We’ll both do better this month, right? *winkwink*

I’m with you on February. It wasn’t the best and that’s an understatement. I’m ready to be excited about March! Also keeping my fingers crossed that awesome opportunity turns out exactly as you want it to (or even better)

    Cheers
