To me, this song embodies everything that is the anticipation of Christmas.
When I worked at Chick-Fil-A several years ago, and had to be at work at the definitely ungodly hour of 5:30 am during the Christmas season, this song would almost always play when I was driving to work. I don’t know why, but it got stuck in my head, and it took me weeks to track down the name of it.
In addition to this being one of my favorite Christmas songs, it’s honestly one of my favorite songs ever, partly because it’s one that I can’t help but sing along with.
But I think why it resonates with me so much is because it takes the focus of Christmas off of me, and of everything I’m trying to do in my own strength.
Christmas is all about Him, the most precious gift possible. There is nothing I can do that could ever match up.
‘Don’t be afraid, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be to all the people.’

What are you doing in anticipation of Christmas, besides the rush to buy gifts and make cookies? Do you celebrate Advent beforehand?

December 4, 2014 - 12:45 am ·I used to celebrate Advent wa-a-a-ay back when I was a teen and enjoying being the Acolyte during the Christmas season. So many wonderful memories I have of those simpler times. *sigh*
You know, if you want to hang snowflakes, cut them by hand. It would give such a whimsical touch. Also, I think just that little touch is perfect. All I have so far, is a small old-timey door ornament hanging from a nail on my front door.
The song you have for the 3rd is, perhaps, the only Christmas song which sets the mood for the season and places a good amount of perspective on what this time of year is about.

December 4, 2014 - 3:42 pm ·I’ve been seriously considering making some snowflakes. I’d need to put just a smidgen of glitter on them, though, so they can catch the light. 😀
