But… Bekah… that’s not a Spotify link.
I know that’s what you’re thinking, right?
Well… see… there’s a very, very specific version of this song that is my favorite. With a little-heard verse.
This verse is so little-known that this is literally the only version of this song I know of that includes it.
Why, Bekah, what is this verse, and how did you come across it?
Well… I encountered it a few years ago when we sang it at church. It was found in one of my great-grandmother’s old Nazarene hymnals, and I’ve never found it anywhere else.
The verse is:
Silent night, holy night
Wondrous star, lend thy light
With the angels let us sing
Hallelujah to our King
Christ the Savior is born
Christ the Savior is born
…and behold, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, until it came and stood over where the young child was. When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceedingly great joy.

December 20, 2014 - 7:19 pm ·Hah, I actually used to know Silent Night in ASL, but it’s been a long time. My aunt is a deaf interpreter, and whenever she’d come to visit, it seemed like I would learn a new Christmas carol for a while. I knew O Little Town of Bethlehem, as well.
