Rebekah’s Illustrious List for 2015

I’ve been trying to come up with a witty title for this post for about three days. I decided I should probably just write the thing, and THEN figure out a witty title. Right? Right.

I have a confession to make. I like lists.

I like lists a lot. Lissa shares my love of lists, and she even got me LIST MAKING SUPPLIES for one of my Christmas gifts.

Butterflies and chickens. Lissa knows me well.
Butterflies and chickens. Lissa knows me well.

I might need a support group. Does Lists Anonymous exist?

Maybe I should start it.

Or maybe not. I have enough on my plate for this next year, honestly.

Which is what you’re really here for, right?

Ladies and gents, please pull up a seat for the over-done List of Things I Resolve To Do in 2015 that you have probably now seen from nearly every blogger you follow.

I’ve deliberately kept some of these things vague. Partly because then I would have a really long list (which I do have more specific goals for some of these written down in a notebook), and also because I’ve learned the past few years that I’m more likely to accomplish things if I’m not super-detailed trying to explain them to others.

Moving on…

Rebekah’s Illustrious List of Things She’d Like to Accomplish in 2015

Be Healthy

  1. Eat better. Take vitamins.
    1. I could do better about watching my sodium intake, and I really need to eat more fresh fruits and vegetables. And I have definitely slacked on taking my vitamin D. Oops.
  2. Be active.
    1. Having an energetic puppy really helps with this. But I still need to do some actual stretching, or weights, or something to get my blood flowing a bit more, you know?
  3. Floss more.
    1. Because I’m getting tired of getting that talk at the dentist.

Be Happy

  1. Make Bekah Introvert Day a regular thing.
    1. Yeah, I had an Introvert Day set aside this past Friday. Because hubby had been off for Christmas for 9 days (Christmas Eve-New Year’s Day), and I was feeling over-socialized and over-stimulated. I ended the day feeling very refreshed, and like I’d been able to accomplish SO MUCH. So this needs to happen more.
  2. Spend more quality time with friends.
    1. As much as I am an introvert, there’s never anything quite as disconcerting as when you hit a rough patch in your life and you just need someone, and then you realize you don’t have very many people because… you don’t get out. You don’t make an effort to connect.
I need to find a balance. But there are people who I like, and who I once considered friends – even close ones – that I’ve grown apart from, and I’d like to at least make the effort to reconnect with them this year.
  3. Get at least two massages this year.
    1. I really debated putting this under ‘be healthy’. But as much as massages are physically good for you, they are more of a splurge for me, because of time and budget constraints. But they do help me feel better – both emotionally and physically – so I need to remember to splurge on myself a little more often.
  4. Do something phenomenal before I turn 30.
    1. Yup. I turn the big 3-0 this year. And I want to do something before then, something BIG, but I have no idea what. I’m open to suggestions that are affordable ($100 or less), safe (skydiving is a huge NOPE.), and within a hundred or so miles of Tulsa, OK.

Be Productive

  1. Write more.
    1. I made very little progress on any of my major writing projects this year, and it’s a bit disheartening to look back and see that. So, write more. Yes. This is a Thing that shall happen.
  2. Read more.
    1. Same as above.
  3. Grow more.
    1. In the garden. Not around my waistline. While I had a massive tomato crop this past year… that was the only thing that did well. I would like to grow more than just tomatoes.
  4. Craft more.
    1. I miss crocheting and sewing and just being creative away from the computer.
  5. Stick to the budget.
    1. This should be self-explanatory.

And, as I said, I have some more specific goals jotted down elsewhere. I’m thinking about sharing those, and my overall progress toward Things, whenever I accomplish something significant. We’ll see.

My post title is not so witty. Oh well.

How’s your year going so far?

Rebekah Loper writes character-driven epic fantasy featuring resilient women in trying and impossible circumstances who just want to save themselves but usually end up saving the world, often while falling in love.
She lives in Tulsa, OK with her husband, dog, two formerly feral cats, a small flock of feathered dragons (...chickens. They're chickens), and an extensive tea collection. When she's not writing, she battles the Oklahoma elements in an effort to create a productive, permaculture urban homestead.
