The A-Zs of Building Magic Systems – Introduction

Hello there! So… tomorrow kicks off the 2019 A-Z Blogging Challenge. Those of you who have been with me for a while know that this challenge is what gave birth to my book, The A-Zs of Worldbuilding. If you saw the theme reveal a couple of weeks ago, then you know that this year I’m using the challenge to outline the next volume of The A-Zs of Worldbuilding, which will cover the intricacies of creating a magic system to mesh with the world you might have already created.

If you want to make sure you get all of these posts, you can follow my blog in a couple different ways: through my RSS feed or through my newsletter. If you follow through the newsletter, just make sure you select the option to receive my articles and posts from around the web. If you want to keep in the loop for updates about the book version of the 2nd volume of The A-Zs of Worldbuilding, make sure to select that option as well!

How to Use the A-Z Posts to Your Advantage

My posts will follow a consistent format in April. There will be a brief commentary about the subject (100-200 words, maybe more depending in the specific topic), and then 1-3 exercises which you can use for your own worldbuilding. You are welcome to save/print these posts for your own use, and I would love you so very much if you were to share anything you find helpful on your own blog or social media!

The comment section of each post will be open for questions, and I’ll do my best to respond to everyone in a timely manner.

I’m so glad you’re here for the A-Z journey, and so…

I will also give away an e-book copy of the first volume, The A-Zs of Worldbuilding, each week in April. At the end of the month I will also giveaway a print version of the first volume. Links for the weekly giveaways and the monthly giveaway will be included at the bottom of each A-Z post!

PS…

I’m also participating in Camp NaNoWriMo in April. Since A-Z Challenge posts will go up Monday-Saturday, I will post Camp NaNo updates on Sundays. In theory. We’ll see if that actually happens, lol.

Thanks so much for coming along on what will be a magic-filled journey in April! See you tomorrow!
