It’s nearly impossible for me to pick a FAVORITE favorite Christmas song, but this one would definitely be in the running.
This is a very timely song for today. It’s Monday, and the day started off rather rough, but by the end of it, things have taken a definite turn for the better.
What I really like about this song is that it’s told from Joseph’s point of view. We have numerous songs from Mary’s point of view, and that’s fine, but considering Joseph’s role in the whole thing, it’s a shame that his side of the story is often brushed over.
We’re not far from Christmas, quite literally now, since we’re five days out. And this song is a reminder, to me, to not get so caught up in the busy of last-minute gift-buying, and baking, and gift-wrapping, but to take a minute and remember why this season is so hopeful in the first place.
But… Bekah… that’s not a Spotify link. I know that’s what you’re thinking, right?
This song has been a favorite of mine since I was young. I couldn’t tell you why, but it has.
I’ll be honest, I originally had a completely different song in this spot on the list. And then this song came on the radio last week, and I went “… why don’t I have this song on my favorites list?”
This is one of the few true worship-style songs on my Christmas list, but worship is just as important during Christmas as it is during any other time of the year.
If you’ve never heard the Casting Crowns version of this song, you need to listen. This is nothing like the traditional song, and it is incredibly moving.
