Worldbuilding Wednesday Hiatus

Hey everyone! I was hoping to not have to write this post, but Life has happened this past week.

My Worldbuilding Wednesday blog hops are going on hiatus.

I was hoping to get ahead on scheduling Worldbuilding Wednesday posts, at least through November and preferably through the end of the year. Yeah, that didn’t happen.

Because one of my best friends was admitted to the hospital on Saturday. She spent 3 days in ICU, and is now finally in a regular room and while they don’t have a diagnosis yet, she is on treatment that is working.

But needless to say, my priorities were rapidly rearranged.

And NaNo is right around the corner (TONIGHT!) and between my ML duties and the care that my friend is going to continue to need for a while, Worldbuilding Wednesday is just going to have to wait.

My plan is to start it back up in January, and probably go twice a month, rather than weekly.

Hopefully sometime this week I will have a post up about my NaNo project!

Hope you all have a safe Halloween! Are you doing NaNoWriMo? What are your plans for November?

PS: You can find out a bit about my NaNo project on the Ferret blog!

The Thing About Camp NaNoWriMo…

… is that it tends to sneak up on you.

Somehow, it’s April. I sat down mid-March, just before my visit to The Writers Colony at Dairy Hollow (more posts coming about that in the near future!), and realized that my co-ML and I needed to figure out some write-ins for Camp NaNoWriMo. (We did, though they’re all in the last half of the month. Oh well.)

And I needed to figure out what on earth I was going to do for Camp. This post, coincidentally, is totally counting toward my Camp NaNo goal.

So what am I doing for Camp NaNo?

I’m focusing on making progress on several different projects, so I’ve decided to make my goal a set amount of hours vs. a number of words, though I am still keeping track of the words I write, just for posterity.

My goal, overall, is a minimum of 75 hours devoted to my projects. I’d like to hit 100 hours, but that’s if I get the first 75 done in a timely manner.

The projects I’m working on are:

Catalyst – it’s high time I get this thing polished, but I’m adding in an entire plotline for Zareja, and it’s been well over a year since I last re-read this sucker. So I’m re-reading, and writing down my outline and marking what changes need to be made, especially when it comes to adding scenes.

Blog Posts – I need a back log here, and to stay on top of other blogs that I contribute to. I have my assigned posts for the next several months for the Rabid Rainbow Ferret Society, so if I can get them written well ahead of time it’ll be fantastic. I also want to get back to contributing regularly to Fantasy-Faction, because I honestly don’t remember the last time I submitted an article there right off-hand.

Plotting – I have an idea for my November NaNo project. Potentially. But I need to start playing with it now, because the past couple of years where I didn’t have a firm outline well ahead of November… well, I’ve paid for at the end of the month. And I don’t want to do that again. Worst comes to worst, and this idea doesn’t pan out, I’m just going to pick up one of my Gyti stories again, or maybe even start on the next book of Undoing.

Shorts/Novellas – There are two specific works that I want to finish. One of them just needs some revision and polishing (and I need to decide which ending I want to use – because I wrote two), and the other needs a plot hole filled. As long as I finish the first, and make progress on the second, I’ll be happy.

The A-Zs of Worldbuilding – The book. I’m getting so close to making some announcements about this that I can almost taste it. But that’s all I’m gonna say for now, but mostly, I just need to keep chugging away. If you want to be in the know a little sooner, go sign up for my newsletter.

And just for fun, because I’ve started bullet journaling, here’s how I’m keeping track of my progress on each different project:

Not yet finished for April 5th… but yes, I’ve already logged 4 hours of writing time.
Are you participating in Camp NaNo? What are you working on, whether you’re doing Camp or not?

Another NaNoWriMo Win in the Books! (Pun totally intended.)

Life took over this year, but I managed to write most days anyway. Winnie has had her back right leg amputated, and is doing great now. The kitten has been named Tiberius. (As in James Tiberius Kirk.) Oh, and I won a Goodreads giveaway for a book that I really wanted but didn’t know how to fit in the budget! Hopefully it will get here soon…

And I finished NaNo last night about 11 pm, Oklahoma time. Just one more NaNo event to get through (the Thank Goodness It’s Over party on Saturday) and then I can start focusing on Christmas.

Because I failed dismally at blogging in November, here’s all the NaNo updates from the Ferret blog:

And now, because Tradition…

How has your November been?
