Welp. There Went November…

So all of my blogging plans for the month of November pretty much flew out the window as life took over.

The chicken coop is not done yet, but it will be done this week. We got a lot accomplished on it this past week, and we’re definitely within sight of the end. At last.

All the chicken coop things threw a huge wrench into my NaNoWriMo plans, though, and suddenly it was November 30th.

And I had a lot of writing to do.

A LOT of writing.

I don’t think you understand how much writing.

See, here’s my stats chart:

2014 stats chart

Yeah. That much writing.

To be really precise:

I am paying for it today. My right (write, haha) hand is stiff and sore. My back is pinching something fierce, and NaNo Hangover is definitely starting to kick in.

But I wrote 50k, without an outline even.

But I never want to do it like this again.

A few random statistics:

Total hours spent writing were 39.21.

Total words: 50,018

Total writing sessions: 97

NINETY SEVEN writing sessions. That meant whenever I did get to sit down and write, I was only writing for approximately 24 minutes at a time. At about 22 words-per-minute.

Just some food for thought… both for you, and for myself.

How did your November go?

Bekah I think you’re super-awesome! I would never be able to write that much words in one day. My record is about 5000 words and it took me all day. So I’m very very impressed with your dedication.
And I’m happy you made it. Winning NaNo is a great feeling, and especially having done that much work is a great feeling.

What are you planning now? I mean, other than get a rest? Is the story done?

11,000 words in a single day was my previous record. I obviously blew it out of the water, and I don’t know that I ever want to try and break the new record, lol.

I have one complete story that is somewhere between short story and novella length that I’m pretty happy with, and two stories that are in progress. I don’t know when I’ll finish them, honestly. I have some other WIPs that I want to pick up again now that NaNo is finished.

Wow, your 22 words per minute is crazy! Especially without an outline planned. I’m a much slower writer and the most words I wrote in a day last month was 3,300 but I wrote a total of 55,000 words! 🙂 We all have our methods!

Honestly, my normal typing rate is anywhere from 50-80 wpm, as long as I know what I’m writing, and it was such a frustrating point for me this November. Because I was pulling stuff out of thin air, since I’d had no time for brainstorming prior to NaNo.

Everyone does have their own method! I’ve learned over the years that I can ‘write by the seat of my pants’ when necessary, but I turn out a much better story when I’ve plotted instead. I’m also infinitely less stressed by the writing experience if I know where I’m going beforehand.

      Thanks for the follow! 🙂

      Thanks, Patricia! 😀

Well… technically, WordPress.com always turns on the snow feature each December. But I let it stay on with my blog. 😛

But sure, we can go with that I’m out to get you. 😀 I will bury you in virtual snow. 😛
